The Old Malvernian Rifle Club came together once again on Thursday 16 July to take part in the annual Veterans Match at Bisley Shooting Range, enjoying a wonderful day of shooting and the opportunity to catch up with old friends.
It was particularly special to see the group back together, with some members having been shooting alongside each other since their school days in the 1980s. The team were also delighted to be joined by their former schoolmaster, Frank Harriss, making the occasion an even more memorable reunion.
The day combined some excellent shooting with plenty of time to reminisce, with the group enjoying dinner together in the Club House as well as a full day on the range.
A strong performance from the A Team
The OM A Team put in an excellent performance, finishing 15th out of 39 teams with a score of 235.14 – 235 points and 14 V-bulls.
The competition was won by the Old Guildfordians A Team, who scored an impressive 244.30.
There was a touch of what might have been for the OMs, as the team reflected that had they matched their score from last year, they would have finished in second place and taken home silver medals!
The B Team finished 21st, competing with just four shooters and therefore finding themselves at a disadvantage by being one member short.
Despite the results, the day was very much about coming together, enjoying the sport and maintaining the friendships that have been built over many years.
It was wonderful to see the OM Rifle Club continuing to bring generations of Malvernians together through a shared passion for shooting. We look forward to seeing the team back at Bisley again next year.
