Welcome to the OM Rifle Club

The Old Malvernian Rifle Club (OMRC) has a storied history, formed in 1934 with roots going back to 1885 when the Society first entered a team for the Veterans’ competition. Over the years, the team has achieved notable victories, winning this prestigious competition in 1913, 1929, and 1934. Today, the OMRC continues to uphold the traditions of excellence and camaraderie in rifle shooting.

Annual Highlights

The OMRC’s shooting calendar is filled with several key events that bring together members for friendly competition and skill-building:

  • The Public Schools’ Veterans’ Match: Held annually at the National Shooting Ground in Bisley every July, this event is a highlight of the shooting year, showcasing the talents of veteran marksmen from various public schools.
  • The Gryphon Cup: Our very own OMRC competition, held at Bisley in September, is a spirited event that sees fierce but friendly competition among our members. It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate skill and sportsmanship.
  • Matches Against Malvern College Pupils: We maintain a close connection with Malvern College by holding two matches each year against the current pupils. These matches take place in March and November and are a wonderful way to engage with the younger generation of shooters, share expertise, and promote the sport within the school community.

Join Us

The OM Rifle Club is always keen to welcome new members who share a passion for shooting and a connection to Malvern College. Whether you are an experienced marksman or new to the sport, the OMRC provides a supportive environment to hone your skills and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow alumni.
