How to Give

Secure Malvern College’s future by supporting our ambitious plans and help us continue our legacy of excellence for future generations

Support Our Ambitious Plans

The exceptional experiences and opportunities for pupils at Malvern College are made possible by the generous support of our community. Building on the legacy of generosity from our Old Malvernians, Ellerslie Old Girls, parents, and friends, we have exciting plans to invest in facilities at Malvern College and enhance our pupils’ experiences.

We are deeply grateful to all who choose to give, helping us to enhance and enrich the lives of our pupils. Malvern has thrived thanks to the kindness of individuals who believe in our mission and cherish their connection to the College.

If you are interested in giving back to support the future of Malvern College, we would love to discuss this with you. There is no minimum donation – every gift, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference. Please reach out to our Development Team to learn more about the impactful work of the Malvernian Society:

Alternatively, you can make your donation online. If you prefer a hard copy donation form, please contact us for assistance.

Thank you for your generous support.

Regular Giving

Regular giving allows us to plan ahead; it means that we can allocate our resources annually to maximise benefits for all pupils. It is also a way of enabling all our parents, former parents, alumni, staff and friends to play their part on a regular basis in the further development of Malvern College.

Over three years, a gift of £25 a month, with Gift Aid, is worth well over £1,000 to the College. This means that, with your help, we can build world-class facilities for future generations and help support pupils when they need it.

To make a regular gift, please complete the form at the bottom of this page and return it to our office, or click the donation button below.

International

For donors outside of the UK, contributions from the United States can be made through the British Schools & Universities Foundation, while European donations can be processed via Transnational Giving Europe.

Both organisations offer tax-efficient giving options for non-profit contributions. For more information, please visit their websites or contact our Development Team. We encourage you to inform Alexandra Albright or Fiona Paterson so we can ensure your gift is properly acknowledged.

Matched Giving

Your employer may match charitable donations – some companies offer this on a pound-for-pound basis, while others will specify the amount they are prepared to give. This can substantially increase the value of your gift to us. We are happy to supply any relevant information requested by your employer.

Payroll Giving

Your company may offer payroll giving. Payroll giving means that your donation is deducted from your salary before tax, so each £1 you give will only cost you 78p, or 60p if you are a higher rate taxpayer. Your Payroll or HR department will be able to provide you with details if they run this scheme.

Gifts of Property

You can donate property to the Malvernian Society such as buildings, land, or other objects.

Tax relief can be claimed through donations of property when no interest in the property is retained. This can be through:

  • Income tax relief on the value of the donated property.
  • Exemption from inheritance tax.
  • Exemption from capital gains tax on the increase in value of the donated property since first acquired, and reduced capital gains tax when property is sold at less than market value.
Gifts of Shares

Did you know that donating shares is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give to charity.

Individuals can obtain a double form of tax relief by donating gifts of shares and securities to the Malvernian Society. The value of the gift can be offset against any income tax liability and in addition, the gift would be exempt from any liability for Capital Gains Tax.

For a higher-rate taxpayer at 40% who donates £10,000 worth of shares, this will mean a reduction of £4,000 in Income Tax liability, as well as avoiding any Capital Gains Tax liability. The reduction is even greater for top-rate taxpayers at 45%.

Gift Aid – your gift can go further

The Malvernian Society is a Registered Charity (No. 527573). Gift Aid is a government-funded initiative which helps charities, by returning to them the tax that their donors have already paid on their income. It can increase the impact of your giving by 25% at no cost to you.

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase your donation by 25p for every £1 you donate by ticking the Gift Aid box on your gift form. We will increase the value of your gift by reclaiming tax from HMRC, at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid is extremely valuable to the Malvernian Society.
