Remembering Timothy Carter

Carter Timothy Ralph Garth (8.52-57) b. Sanawar, India. 1st XI Cricket & Secretary of Cricket, Cadet Officer, Burke Military Prize, Captain of Gym & Anderson Medal, Athletics Colours, Captain of Boxing, XL football – but, and not for want of trying, never better than 10th in the Ledder! Head of House, College Prefect.

Awarded County Major Scholarship for Natural Sciences. Caius College, Cambridge (57-60) where President Caius Medical Society & member of Shakespeare Society. St Bartholomew’s Hospital (60-63) Senior House Physician under Sir Clifford Naunton Morgan and Dennis Ellison-Nash. Awarded Bentley Prize. 1965 joined Royal Navy short service commission, thence seconded to Royal Marines. First Naval Medical Officer to be awarded Commando Medal. Joined 45 Commando in Aden. Came out of navy and went into General Practice in Surrey, first NHS, then private. Keen fisherman, attained 60 years membership MCC. Died 24th June 2025, aged 86. Survived by wife Betty, Rupert (8.81-85), Ella & Christie.
