Remembering Michael Sambidge

4.59-64

Michael Sambidge attended Malvern College in No.4 from 1959 to 1964, distinguishing himself as a dedicated and enthusiastic sportsman. He captained the Cross Country team and participated in a wide range of sports, earning the respect and affection of his contemporaries. The friendships he formed at the College remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Following his years at Malvern, Michael pursued a successful career in finance, yet his greatest happiness was found at home, surrounded by his wife Sue, daughter Lucy, and, in later years, his beloved granddaughter Florence.

A lifelong sportsman, he remained deeply involved in his local sporting community, serving as Secretary of his hockey club and nurturing a passionate love of golf. He also enjoyed reading, keeping up with current affairs, and travelling, particularly to Greece, which he treasured.

Michael valued the friendships he nurtured beyond Malvern as much as those from his schooldays. These connections were a constant source of joy and support throughout his life.

He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, mischievous humour, and the infectious smile that remained with him to the end. He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Lucy, granddaughter Florence, and sister Pat.

A funeral service will be held at Lichfield & District Crematorium (Fradley) on Thursday 23rd October at 12:30pm. Black attire is not required. Family flowers only, please; donations, if desired, may be made on the day via cash or cheque (payable to Susan Sambidge) in support of St Thomas’ Priory and the Time Out Club.
