Remembering John Pepper

9.50-55

John Pepper attended No.9 from 1950-1955, being a House Prefect during his time. He received a Ledder Cap for cross country and enjoyed boxing. Over the years he was drawn back to the hills of Malvern several times. He was lifelong friends with David Armstrong (9.50-54), a contemporary at Malvern.

John had old-fashioned values, but the ability to laugh and be irreverent. He would find the Nelsonian ability to raise the telescope to his blind eye, which gave younger generations the space and time to explore the boundaries!

John worked in the textile business in West Yorkshire, following National Service, until his retirement.

He passed away peacefully at home on 1st October, aged 88 years. Beloved husband to Margie; loving father to Mark, Nicky, Robin, Joshua, Henry and George; proud grandfather to Georgina, Philippa, Jack, Edward, Emma, Zoe and Molly. Service at St Robert’s Church, Pannal on Wednesday 22nd October at 11:15am.
