Remembering Carey Leonard
Council.14-25
Council.14-25
Carey first joined the Malvern College family as a parent of Hillstone Prep and then later become a parent of Malvern College. He was passionate about independent education and served as a Governor of The Downs Malvern from 2010, becoming Chairman in 2020. Carey guided The Downs Malvern Board with wisdom and pragmatism, always led by what was best for our pupils and staff. In addition to this central role, Carey served as a Trustee and Treasurer on the Malvern College Council from 2014, bringing with him his extensive experience in the banking world. He also served as Chairman of the Abberley Hall Board, Chairman and director of the Malvern College International Board and Chairman of College Guardians and Malvern College Enterprises.
Carey retired from his roles with The Downs Malvern and Malvern College in December 2024, with the aim of spending more time with his family and on the golf course. However, he was a regular visitor to the College, not least at Malvern Active where he enjoyed spending time in the gym.
Those who had the pleasure of working alongside Carey knew the joy he received from being an integral part of our school communities, whether visiting pupils in the classroom or presiding over more formal events in the school calendar. He prioritised his work within the Malvern College family alongside his professional commitments and we will be forever grateful for his unwavering support. Carey will be greatly missed.
