We are incredibly proud of Matthew Calderwood (SH.12–16), who has completed an extraordinary Memorial Stair Climb in Atlanta, Georgia, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Joining firefighters from across the UK, Ireland and USA, Matthew climbed 110 flights of stairs — the equivalent height of the World Trade Center — wearing full fire kit, in honour of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 11th September 2001.
Each participant carried the name of one of the fallen firefighters, ensuring their memory was carried with them every step of the way.
The challenge was a remarkable display of strength, remembrance and solidarity, while also raising vital funds for three charities supporting firefighters, emergency services personnel and their families: The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund; The Fire Fighters Charity; Blue Light Card Foundation
A huge congratulations to Matthew and his team on completing this incredible challenge, and to everyone who took part in honouring the 343 heroes who will never be forgotten.
Please consider supporting Matthew’s fundraising and helping him honour the 343 heroes who will never be forgotten.
