We were thrilled to welcome back alumni of No.1 House for their reunion on Saturday, 21st September. Over 100 Old Malvernians (OMs) and guests joined us for a day filled with laughter, reminiscing, and reconnecting.
The day began with refreshments at No.1 House, where OMs had the opportunity to meet current pupils and revisit familiar spaces, including their old study bedrooms. It was a true walk down memory lane, followed by a special Chapel service led by Reverend Adam Wharton, College Chaplain and former Housemaster of No.1.
During lunch, guests were addressed by Headmaster Keith Metcalfe, who provided an insightful update on the College today. He then handed over to the current Housemaster of No.1, Oliver Butterworth, who gave a heartfelt speech about life in the House, reassuring OMs that its core values remain the same. This year’s Head of House, Amaan Edavalath (Upper Sixth), captivated the audience with his speech, offering a vibrant account of pupil life at Malvern College, and humorously referenced the ongoing friendly rivalry with their neighbours in No.2 House.
After lunch, attendees enjoyed guided tours of the campus, with additional refreshments served in the Lyall Foyer at the Rogers Theatre. Throughout the day, OMs reconnected with old friends, made new acquaintances, and were delighted to meet some of their former teachers. Many continued the tradition of gathering at The Morgan to carry on the reunion celebrations well into the evening.
A huge thank you to all who attended and to everyone involved in making the day so memorable. Special thanks to our current No.1 pupils, who were exemplary hosts. We eagerly look forward to welcoming OMs back for future events very soon.
