Reuben Dargan (SH.18-23) is currently studying Medical Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham. Later this year he will taking on the challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise vital funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF).
Reuben told us: “Meningitis is primarily a disease which affects young people of student age, which is why it is a cause close to my heart. The Meningitis Research Foundation works to provide vaccines, spread awareness, and carry out research on meningitis so it is important I have chosen to support this brilliant charity through my Kili climb.
“Malvern gave me so much and I loved my time at College; I was the Captain of the hockey 1st team, a member of the Chapel and Chamber choirs and was also the Vice-President of the Wheeler-Bennet Society. I regularly return to Malvern in the holidays to stay with my family and always enjoy coming back.”
Reuben will be undertaking a great deal of other fundraising activities to meet his target which he has set as £2000 – can you help him reach his target? If you do choose to donate, 50% of the donation, as well as all Gift Aid will go straight to MRF, and 50% will go towards funding the remainder of the trip, as he is partially self-funding the challenge. When he is back on home soil, he will be producing a video documenting his adventure, as well as giving the Malvernian Society a write up about his adventure.
