OMs unite to run Lisbon marathon for charity

Maitie Wright (3.08-13) and Sofia Storer (3.08–13), reunited in Lisbon at the end of October (25th) to take on the city’s iconic marathon.

For Maitie, this was her first marathon, and she ran with a powerful motivation: to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK in honour of her father, who is currently battling stage 4 prostate cancer. On her JustGiving page, Maitie shared, “Watching someone you love go through this is heartbreaking but it’s also motivated me to take action.” Her father, a seasoned marathon runner himself, inspired her to take on what she described as “by far the biggest challenge I have ever set myself, both physically and mentally.”

The Lisbon Marathon, known for its scenic coastal route and enthusiastic crowds, provided the perfect backdrop for this inspiring reunion. Both runners crossed the finish line with pride – Maitie completing her first marathon and Sofia adding another to her growing list of achievements, with Lisbon being her third marathon.

To date, Maitie has raised over £1600. If you’d like to support her fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK, please visit her JustGiving page here.
