We were delighted to welcome back a distinguished group of Old Malvernians for Malvern College’s annual Careers and Futures Evening on Friday 28th February. This much-anticipated event provides pupils in the Hundred and Lower Sixth with valuable insights into a wide range of career paths, offering them the opportunity to learn from the experiences of alumni who have gone on to excel in their respective fields.
Pupils attended a series of engaging talks, where the visiting OMs shared their career journeys, industry insights, and invaluable advice for those considering similar paths.
This year’s impressive line-up of OM speakers:
- Andy Allen (8.97-02) – Low-carbon investor and developer. Andy highlighted the importance of sustainable investment and development, giving pupils a glimpse into the future of green energy and environmental finance.
- Jonathan Ashworth (SH.76-81) – CEO Export, Bayadera Group. Jonathan spoke about his role in leading the international development of Bayadera Group’s portfolio, offering pupils a fascinating look into global business and trade.
- Richard Cumbley (2.86-81) – Partner & Solicitor, Linklaters LLP. With a distinguished career in law, Richard provided insights into the legal profession, discussing the skills and dedication required to succeed in the field.
- Ashley Davies (5.82-87) – Chartered Architect and RIBA-accredited Specialist Conservation Architect. With 30 years of experience, Ashley spoke passionately about historic building conservation and demonstrated the creative and technical aspects of architecture.
- Robert Porter (SH.11-16) – Civil Service, Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Robert provided a unique perspective on working within government, discussing the dynamic and impactful nature of a career in the civil service.
- Sina Stapelfeldt (4.03-05) – Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College London. Sina shared her observations of working in industry and academia, aiming to inspire more pupils to pursue STEM careers.
