OM meets The King at Makers Christmas Market

An Old Malvernian had the honour of meeting His Majesty The King during a special event at Battersea Power Station earlier this month. Danielle Close (4.04-09), the founder of My Skin Feels, a sustainable skincare brand, participated in the Curated Makers Christmas Market showcasing the finest small British businesses.

It was the first time The King had visited the refurbished site, which reopened in October 2022. Among the array of innovative and sustainable businesses at the Curated Makers Christmas Market, My Skin Feels stood out for its unique mission – transforming rescued food waste from the food and drink manufacturing industry into high-quality skincare products.

“I had the incredible opportunity to tell His Majesty all about my brand,” Danielle shared. “I explained how we repurpose ingredients like tomato ketchup, olive oil, breakfast oats, and orange juice into sustainable skincare products. He was lovely, shook everyone’s hands, and asked lots of questions about my journey and how I started my business.”

The royal visit was a momentous occasion for the My Skin Feels founder and the other small businesses featured at the market. It highlighted the growing importance of sustainability and innovation within British entrepreneurship.

We are so proud of Danielle and her dedication to creating a more sustainable future through her skincare products.
