OM Completes 766km Journey to Santiago de Compostela

Peter Cook (7.68-72) and his wife Marian have recently returned from an extraordinary journey: a 766 km pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Starting from their home in Extremadura, Spain, they walked for 33 days, averaging 23 km per day, and arrived just in time to celebrate Peter’s 71st birthday.

The couple chose the historic Via de la Plata route, which begins near their farm in Extremadura, before branching onto the Sanabrés Way. Their trek took them through stunning autumn landscapes and wooded countryside – an unforgettable experience that Peter describes as “addictive,” noting that most fellow pilgrims they met were seasoned walkers rather than first timers. Peter shared that the Camino is more than a walk; it’s a community and a challenge that draws people back time and again.

Congratulations to Peter and Marian on this incredible achievement!
