OM Netball Match:  OMs vs 'Goals Allowed' on 31st July

On Monday, the newly formed OM Girls Netball Squad gathered at the Clapham Common courts to face their opposition - Goals Allowed (a group of Newcastle University alumni) - in their first match of the league. It was a fantastic turnout and the team achieved an impressive 23-9 win in a fast-paced and exciting game. Alys Marr and Dani Moyles were unstoppable in the centre court, demonstrating agility and endurance with the constant change in direction of play. Amelia Freeman, Poppy Donaldson and Vicky James all shot consistently well and managed to get the number of goals into double digits by the end of the first half. Vixie Furse and Hannah Pascoe proved a winning combination in defence, along with Lucy Davies who achieved some superb interceptions. Henrietta Ross arrived as a fresh pair of legs in the final quarter and did not disappoint! Naturally the team headed to the nearest drinking establishment after the game to discuss plans for the squad as well as future fixtures and events. The support and interest in raising the profile of sport for OM Girls has been extremely encouraging, and with a team consisting of leavers from 2008 to 2015, it’s been a brilliant opportunity for the girls to all reconnect and prove they’ve still got skills.  Click here for photos.
