Visit to the Normandy Battlefields 9 - 12 April 2018

Following the successful visit to Ypres in 2015 the Society is organising a visit to Normandy in April 2018.

We will be based in Caen for the three nights, and plan to visit important Second World War sites such as Sword, Gold and Omaha Beaches, Hillman battlefield, Pegasus Bridge, the Merville battery and the Mulberry harbour at Arromanches.  We shall, of course, lay wreaths at the three cemeteries where OMs are buried, and we shall visit the American Cemetery at Colleville.

There will be also be an opportunity to visit the Bayeux tapestry, the Café Gondrée and a calvados farm.

We are delighted to be able to announce that our tour guide is Piers Storie-Pugh (OM), who has a wealth of experience of the area and its history; we are confident that his expertise will enliven and enrich the tour.

Based on 20 (25) participants, the visit is priced at £390 to include:
•    3 nights’ accommodation at the Best Hotel Caen Citis
•    coach travel from and to Malvern
•    ferry crossing Portsmouth to and from Ouistreham

Please note that no meals are included in the price; breakfast is available at the hotel from €8.50.

The trip is nearly fully booked and there are just three places left. For details or to book please email the Malvernian Society Office at or telephone 01684 581517. Payment in full will be required as soon as the booking is confirmed.

We hope you can join us!
