Malvernian Society Hosts Hong Kong Drinks

Malvernian Society Hosts Hong Kong Drinks

On Wednesday 22nd October, Rebecca Merrett, Director of the Malvernian Society, hosted a convivial drinks event at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong, bringing together a dozen members of the Malvernian community based in the region.

The gathering welcomed a vibrant mix of attendees, including Old Malvernians, and current and prospective Malvern parents, spanning multiple decades, Houses, and professional backgrounds. The evening was filled with lively conversation, shared memories of life at Malvern, and reflections on the enduring spirit of the College.

In addition to reminiscing about adventures in Malvern, guests discussed the exciting expansion of the Malvern family of schools and the growing global network of alumni. A key theme of the evening was the importance of strengthening mentoring and internship opportunities among the talented Hong Kong-based OMs, highlighting the value of community support and professional collaboration.

The Malvernian Society is grateful to all who attended and looks forward to continuing to build connections across the international Malvernian community.

Good evening. What a lovely event this must have been. When in Malvern Girls College for school year 1967/68, I was sharing dormitory with Hong Kong Student Cynthia Fung. Cynthia’s two younger brothers were students of Malvern Boys College. I wonder if either of the three, or all three attended the event. I would love to get in touch. Back in 1988-89, travelling to Australia with stopover in Singapore, I were delighted to meet Cynthia and her Husband Hak. Both doctors at the Univercity of S;ingapore. Cynthia travelling all over the world giving speeches on brain tumor. There after we seemed to have lost touch. I do not have any address. if there is anyway to reconnect I would be most grateful. Wishing you every success and looking forward to receiving your newsletter.
