Malvern College Green Giving Day shortlisted for second national award

The Green Giving Day (GGD), organised by the Malvernian Society at Malvern College, is in the running for its second national award. It has been shortlisted for the Communications Award in the Admissions, Marketing and Communications in Independent Schools (AMCIS) IMPACT Awards which will be held in May 2024.

The shortlist follows a previous award win which saw the College’s GGD taking the ‘Schools’ Fundraising Campaign of the Year’ Award at The Institute of Development Professionals in Education (IDPE) Development Awards in November 2023.

Now in their fifth year, the IMPACT Awards are designed to recognise excellence in admissions, marketing and communications in independent schools and are open to all 560 AMCIS member schools.

AMCIS CEO, Tory Gillingham, said: “These awards acknowledge the professional development and practice of AMCIS members, and the positive impact of well-executed admissions, marketing and communications in helping schools to thrive. The strength of the entries has, again, made the task of shortlisting very difficult and I’m sure the judges will find it a real challenge to select the winners.”

Malvern College’s inaugural Green Giving Day, held in June 2023, created a new Green Fund to kickstart sustainability initiatives at the College. Through the GGD, an incredible £134,776 was raised over two days. The fundraising and awareness raising event saw the whole Malvernian community pulling together to raise vital funds, as well as through a series of pupil challenges on campus, including a green home clothes day and a ‘Wheelie Great Cycling Challenge’ which demonstrated how many hours pupils could keep the main school building lights on for through pedal power.

The Green Fund, launched by GGD, will help to realise the College’s green ambitions: to reduce its carbon footprint, preserve its heritage buildings, and make learning environments sustainable for future generations.

A second Green Giving Day will be held in November this year – details to be announced soon!
