Malvern at University: Newcastle Gathering for OMs

Malvern at University: Newcastle Gathering for OMs

On Tuesday 25th November, the Malvernian Society hosted a vibrant ‘Malvern at University’ event in Newcastle, bringing together over 30 Old Malvernians currently studying at Durham and Newcastle universities. Held at Revolución de Cuba in the heart of the city, the evening was filled with lively conversation, good food, and a fantastic atmosphere.

OMs enjoyed the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and meet fellow alumni studying at both universities. The presence of Sarah Angus (Senior Deputy Head) and Richard Thurlow (Head of Careers and UK University Admissions) added a special touch, as they shared updates from Malvern College and discussed how the College and the Malvernian Society continue to support OMs beyond school life.

With an alumni network of approximately 6,000 OMs and EOGs worldwide, spanning all ages and professions, there is a wealth of experience and support available. Many alumni are happy to offer work placements or provide career guidance, so do get in touch if you’d like to learn more.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many asking for a repeat event next year. It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the OM network and celebrate the Malvernian community.

To date, we have held ‘Malvern at University’ events in Exeter, Bristol and Bath, London, and Oxford, with Newcastle still to come this year. Plans are already underway for more events in 2026, so watch this space!
