The King’s Birthday Honours 2024 Lists were published earlier this month (Saturday 15th June), marking the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK, including several outstanding Old Malvernians. Old Malvernians Lieutenant Colonel Rob Philipson-Stow and Robert Caudwell have been awarded an OBE, while Brigadier Edward Chamberlain is made a CBE.
Robert Caudwell (2.69-73) | Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)
Robert Caudwell is to be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to Lowland Peat Carbon Stores and to Food Security. Robert has been a farmer for more than 40 years and is Lately Chair of the Lowland Agricultural Peat Task Force.
Edward Chamberlain (2.82-87) | Commander of the British Empire (CBE)
Brigadier Edward Chamberlain receives his award in recognition of his work as Head of the Army’s Personnel Services Group.
Concurrently, he held the additional duties of Commandant of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps and Trustee of the Army’s largest grant making charity, the Army Central Fund.
Rob Philipson-Stow (5.84-89) | The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE)
Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Rob Philipson-Stow, who works in the Directorate of Defence Communications (DDC) is to receive the OBE for planning the communications for three of the largest ceremonial events in recent years – the Platinum Jubilee, The Late Queen’s funeral and the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla.
His citation says: “The impact of his contribution to these globally significant events is best shown by the record-breaking audiences reached. On Defence channels alone, seven million people viewed Queen’s Platinum Jubilee messaging, whilst an extraordinary 11 million viewed messaging on the King’s Coronation.”
“It’s hugely inspiring to learn about our alumni who have been recognised at such a prestigious level for their dedication and successes in their respective sectors.”
