Bat, brush and book: A unique day of cricket and culture at Malvern College

Join us on Sunday 8th June for what promises to be a truly memorable day at Malvern College, as the Old Malvernians face the Shrewsbury Saracens in the first round of the prestigious Cricketer Cup 2025.

This is more than just a cricket match – it’s a celebration of community, culture, and sporting heritage. Set against the stunning backdrop of The Senior, this is the perfect opportunity to grab a picnic, catch up with friends, and soak in the summer atmosphere.

We are especially honoured to welcome Old Malvernian Ricky Ellcock (SH.81-82) to this year’s event. A former professional cricketer turned commercial pilot with Virgin Atlantic, Ricky will be on hand to sign copies of his newly released autobiography, Balls to Fly. Don’t miss this chance to meet him in person and hear about his fascinating journey from the crease to the cockpit.

Also joining us is former cricket legend and renowned cricket artist Jack Russell, who will be exhibiting and selling prints of his evocative painting of The Senior, created during the summer of 2024. The limited-edition artwork (610mm x 385mm) is a must-have for Malvernians and cricket lovers alike, with only 150 prints available for £250 each.

A former England cricket legend wearing a cap and jacket paints a scenic landscape outdoors. The canvas, held on an easel, captures trees, hills, and a house beneath partly cloudy skies. In the background, the green hills exude calmness as he skillfully brings the scene to life.

In addition, we are delighted to host the Patrons’ Lunch of the OM Cricket Club on this day – a fantastic opportunity for supporters of OM cricket to come together in style and show their backing for our players.

This promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of cricket, conversation and celebration.

We hope to see you there!
