Match Report: OMCC Gryphons v Old Vigornians

King’s Worcester Ground, New Road, Worcester

The OMCC Gryphons continued their unbeaten run in style with a dominant performance against the Old Vigornians at the picturesque New Road.

After the skipper won yet another toss, the mighty Gryphons took to the field. A disciplined opening spell from Will Crossland (5.17-22) and George Amphlett (9.12-17) kept the pressure on early, setting the tone for the innings. Jonny Edwards (2.17-22) then led the attack with an impressive 4-24, ably supported by Oli Doherty (2.17-22) from the other end, as the Gryphons restricted the Old Vigornians to 177 off 35 overs.

After a sensational tea  kindly provided the the Malvernian Society, the Gryphons set about maintaining their unbeaten record. Will Hartley (SH.18-22) steered the ship home with an unbeaten 103* – the first ever century for the Gryphons. He received strong support from Richard Postins (3.84-87), Warren Heath (4.83-86) and Finley Morris (2.17-22), guiding the team to a comfortably victory.

The milestone century was rightly celebrated back at our spiritual home, The Morgan. All eyes now turn to our internal fixture on Sunday 24th August on The Senior.

Report by Finley Morris (2.17-22)
