We were delighted to welcome nearly 100 guests from the Malvern College UK and Hong Kong community to a warm and vibrant Evening Reception in Hong Kong on Tuesday, 29th April. The event captured the spirit of Malvern, bringing together prospective and current families, as well as Old Malvernians (OMs) from across the generations, to share stories and celebrate their shared connection to the College.
Headmaster Keith Metcalfe spoke with enthusiasm about the joy of reuniting with families and OMs abroad and reflected on the strength of the College’s global ties. He highlighted the exciting opportunities offered by Malvern’s growing network of international schools in Hong Kong, Qingdao, Chengdu, Tokyo, and Cairo.
“It is such a pleasure to bring together families representing the full life cycle of a Malvern education – from those preparing to join the College at age 13, to OMs who left more than 60 years ago,” said Mr Metcalfe. “What becomes clear at gatherings like this is that once you join Malvern, you remain part of this community for life – with all the opportunities, privileges, and responsibilities that come with it.”
Mr Metcalfe was joined by Paul Wickes, Headmaster of Malvern College Hong Kong and former Housemaster of No.9 at Malvern College UK, who echoed the message of lifelong connection. They reminded guests of the vibrant programme of events, clubs, and reunions organised by the Malvernian Society, available to all OMs around the world.
“Wherever you are, and whatever your interests or stage in life, there’s always a Malvernian ready to welcome you,” added Mr Metcalfe.
Thank you to everyone who attended the evening. View the list of future Malvernian Society events.
